One of those days
Ever have one of those days where things just didn't seem to go right? I had one those just the other day, on Friday. It was actually night when it happened. Took about 30 minutes but it pretty much ruined the whole evening.
It started innocently enough. My parents came over so we could go see the lights in SLC at Temple Square. Totally innocent right? So, my kids were running around upstairs playing and my Dad was putting away my iron. Evan comes around the corner and WHAM! runs into it. Huge welt on his face.
So after taking care of him and calming him down we all got in the car and started to head to Salt Lake. We were in my parents new car and I, unfortunately, hit the breaks too hard and Evan went face first into the passenger seat. He started crying and after I looked at his lip he had bit it and it was cut.
Obviously we went straight into the house just in time for my littlest one, Sara, to trip on the stairs!
Sara was fine and I was able to settle her down pretty easily. I ended up taking Evan to the Emergency Room to see if he would need stitches. Luckily, he didn't. Enjoy some pics of him below
Like I said, it was one of those days . . .
Almost Famous
Okay, so this probably isn't as exciting as being a reporter covering a Rock Band's climb to success but it is a close second. Alright maybe a third. However it's always fun to say you have a claim to fame. Here is one of mine that was tucked away in the Salt Lake Tribune. It was in their local section of tribstowns.com.
I'm here in front of the new NOC that was built for UTOPIA, the municipally owned open fiber network here in Utah.
I must admit I get a lot of phone calls from single girls now. Okay, maybe not.
Turkey Day and some T-day activities
I must admit the best thing about having Thanksgiving at my parents, besides the nap, is having a great Thanksgiving dinner and not having to cook it! The kids and I headed up to my parents for the weekend. We got a look at their new car and I got to drive it around all weekend. All weekend my kids tried to convince me that I need a car with a dvd player. And after seeing how quiet they were I think I'm convinced.
Here is the gang before Thanksgiving dinner
Of course before you actually eat Thanksgiving dinner you have the standard starvation period. Ever have to endure that? Your Mom demands it, Dad gets to skip it because he cuts the turkey and secretly stuffs his mouth and the kids are left to defend for themselves. I mean check out this starving one
Then finally we get to eat
It was a great dinner and we had lots of fun this weekend. In fact, we came back Saturday night and all I heard Sunday was "I'm bored" and "There's nothing to do here. Let's go back to Amha's house". However, we did get outside for some activites; a movie, fishing, rock climbing and bowling. Check it out:
For those of you brave enough and who have time to waste here is a file of Taylor climing the rock wall. It's a big file. Have fun.
(I'll upload it shortly. I have to convert it to compress it.)
Halloween – Who says your too old
Every Halloween we have a ritual. We go to the Church trunk-r-treat, eat some candy, go out trick-r-treating, eat some more candy and then visit our friends house and eat some MORE CANDY!
This year wasn't any different. We went to the Church trunk-r-treat and it was actually kind-of a flop. For a few years it has been really great place to take the kids, and it still is, but not many people showed up. However, we were visited by a celebrity Mr T!
After that we headed for some door knocking and my friends house. Lucky for us it was raining a little but stopped after a few minutes. But it was worth it and I'll tell you why. On our route we pass by this house that serves candy to the kids and either hot apple cider or hot chocolate to the adults! It was great to feel like a pepper. Cold outside but hot inside! Yeah, that's the best I could do.
Getting back to my roots . . .
Recently my Mom told me that they opened up a chinese store up North (down South for her). Now, since I had eaten my last bowl of rice a few days ago and I didn't have anymore I thought I'd join her for an exciting trip to little China in Utah.
So when i got there this is what I found . . .
But what did I find right next to the shop? Check it out . . .
Seems like I'll be getting Chinese a little more often!
Oh, and this picture is for the Moyer Family!
.
How cute is she!
Now, I'm not one to brag but I must say that this is one cute little girl!
We had the chance to visit Toys R Us the other night and Sara bought a dress up outfit. This is part of the outfit that she chose. She was very happy with the outfit and wore it all night until bed time.
Body Works . . . A morbid curiosity
So the circus was last weekend and I just got around to posting it. It's such a great deal for you. It's like you get the price of 2 blogs for one! Don't know how you stand it . . .
This weekend I went with some friends to see the Body Works show that was on display in Salt Lake. If you don't know what that is you can take a look at The Leonardo and see for yourself. It is basically a travelling show that teaches you about the human body. The catch is that they use real human cadavers in the show. Yeah, that's right. REAL. How's that lunch taste for a second time?
When we arrived we thought we would be able to get in pretty quick and then get out. So, we went to buy tickets. We saw a line outside the building and didn't think too much of it. It wasn't so bad. Then we entered into the building and saw another line. I know, your saying to yourself like I did, so there is a line to get into line to see the exhibit. Okay, hopefully it moves fast.
So we go to buy tickets and see that the next show (it being 5:30 pm) that isn't sold out is at 6:30 pm. Dang It! So we bought tickets. It was kind of funny that my friends, Mike and Leanna, were in front of me bought a couple tickets. Then I went up to buy my ticket and they said "Oh, the 6:30 showing is sold out." What? Wanna run that by me again? Yeah. It was true. However, the guy at the ticket counter told me that they never looked at ticket times and just to purchase a 7:00 pm ticket and go to the 6:30 (Lucky for him it worked).
We decided to grab a quick dinner and then wait in line. After waiting for a while we decided to get some drinks at a cafe next inside. It was the worst hot chocolate EVER!
Eventually, after waiting for about 2 hours, we were able to get in and it was really cool. I recommend going to see it. They showed everything that you could imagine and more. Some of the more impressive exhibits were the vein structure of the human body. Somehow they managed to keep in tack the whole vein structure of a human head and remove everything else. Amazing.
By the way, I think this guy was checking me out while I was there . . .

We love the Circus!
Boy, I can't remember the last time I went to the Circus. I was probably around 10 or 12. I do remember that it was fun and that's about it. So when the Circus came to town I thought that we should go. I admit that it was pretty fun and exciting. And very expenseive.
Here we are right before we enter the Circus in Salt Lake. Sara doesn't look like she is having fun but she did.
We were able to see acrobats, contortionist and animals (horses, tigers and elephants. Oh my!). As I said it was a grand time.
I do have to include this last picture though. It was of Evan. We each chose one item that we bought there. Taylor bought a cool horse T-shirt, Sara bought a toy that had a handle and some fiber optic lights off the end that when you pushed a button it spun around and lit up (she managed to hit us all with it) but Evan's glasses won the prize. They lit up and it was like a neon sign around his face. It was great!
Trail riding
So this weekend I was supposed to go Moutain Biking (MTB) with some friends on Saturday. We were supposed to meet at 6:00 am at a friends and then ride Bennie Creek in Payson. Well, about 6:20 am I got a call that said "Hey, we're leaving without you!". So, you might be thinking man this guys lazy! Well, that day I was (But considering I've been getting only a few hours a sleep this week due to some deadline let's cut me some slack!).
Fortunately I was able to get some riding in later. Travis and I went to Box Springs Hallow trail. It's located just above Vivian park up in Provo Canyon. We rode up the hill to where the spring originates and took the trail down. About 35 minutes up and a quick 5 minutes down. It's quite a pretty place. I recommend going up there. There's a nice picnic area. I think I'll take my kids up there. Perhaps I'll see ya there.
Here is a link with some more pictures and a trail map if you'd like to see it . . . http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/bigsprng.htm
To the fair!!!
So this weekend we went to the fair. Man, it has been a long time since I went to the fair. I remember when the fair used to come to Las Vegas and I'd go with my friends. It was a great time!
However, this time I find myself wondering how come I'm the one now waiting for the kids and not on the rides? Next time, they're waiting for me! I haven't lost my touch in winning prizes though. Yeah that's right. I popped so many ballons that they ran out. Stuffed animals for everyone! My kids loved me.
